Founded in 1909 by a multiracial group of citizens committed to social justice,
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has
attracted over 20,000,000 members in its 94-year history.
Because the fight for civil rights still has its enemies, the NAACP has many
passionate detractors. But the loyalty and affection of our members, friends
and supporters is unsurpassed.
Membership is the "lifeblood" of the NAACP. Throughout the history of our
Association, millions of people have committed to the struggle for civil rights
by joining the NAACP. These Freedom Fighters have fueled our past success. But
you are the foundation upon which the NAACP's future will be build.
